Michael Young

Michael Young is a Professor of Education at the UCL Institute of Education. He was formerly a chemistry teacher and Head of Science at a London secondary (technical)  school. His main research interests are knowledge and the school curriculum, the knowledge and expertise of professions (including teachers) and the role of qualifications.

He has been Chair of Governors of an FE College,  a member of the Governing Body of a secondary school and Research Consultant to the City of Guilds Of London Institute. 

His most recent books are Knowledge and the Future School(with David Lambert) published in 2014 by Bloomsbury and Knowledge, Expertise and the Professions(with Johan Muller) published in 2014 by Routledge.
