Dr Nick Hammond

Dr Nick Hammond is an Educational and Child Psychologist, social theatre practitioner and film maker. He has worked in a diverse range of settings, throughout the UK, as an actor, facilitator, consultant, researcher and psychologist. He has acted a research supervisor to postgraduate education students and is currently Honorary Lecturer at the University of Manchester.


Nick was the founding member of The Arts Lab, a multidisciplinary network of professionals who used the arts in their work. He co-created the international Arts in Applied Psychology and Education Conference and, with Arts Lab colleagues, ran it for five years. His work focuses on empowerment and power distribution, especially in enabling the voice of the child through adult discourse and political agenda.


Nick is the author of Forum Theatre for Children: Enhancing social, emotional and creative development published by Trentham Books/IOE Press.
